HOW TO PREVENT & RELIEVE ALTITUDE SICKNESS

The first step is a positive mindset, followed by good nutrition: avoid eating, before travelling and once there, food with high levels of fat or fried meals. Once in Puno, drink a lot of fluids (water, coca leaf tea & electrolytes) and rest for a couple of hours after arriving.

If you are already experiencing dizziness, headaches or nausea you should drink coca leaf tea with muña without sugar and rest. Resting is always the best treatment.

Lake Titicaca has an astonishing area of 56,270 km² (21,726mi²), almost the exact size of the entire country of Croatia, and a little bit smaller than the state of West Virginia. There are over 42 islands within the waters of this majestic body of water.

Indeed it is possible! Visit the intriguing communities of the Uros Islands in Lake Titicaca, Ccotos, Taquile and Luquina.
